Appointments

What types of appointments do we offer?

Travel Assessment

Travel assessments are recommended for all travelers. This visit includes a consultation with one of our doctors. During this appointment the doctor will:

  • Review your health history, previous vaccination history, and travel itinerary
  • Write prescriptions
  • Give health advice
  • Discuss the recommended/required vaccines

The nurse provides the vaccinations after the assessment with the doctor is complete.

It is recommended you book an appointment 4-6 weeks before you are traveling.

*To save time, you may choose to fill out this questionnaire ahead of time and bring it to your appointment.

Forms/Vaccine Review (School forms, immigration forms, etc.)

A forms/vaccine review appointment is for anyone looking to apply for school or immigration. The doctor will go over the form(s) to help you complete the application. If vaccines are needed, that can be provided right after with one of our nurses (note that the cost for the vaccines is separate — it is not included in the form/vaccine review fee). If you have more than one form, additional fee(s) will be charged per additional form.

For those going to medical school, visit our Med School Form Review Page.

Nurse Only Appointment

Nurse only appointments are for follow-up boosters or for individuals requesting a specific vaccine. You will not receive vaccine recommendations, travel advice, or prescriptions at a nurse only appointment.

TB Skin Test

Tuberculosis skin tests require a follow-up visit 48-72 hours after the initial test to read the result.  A Tb skin test cannot be done if you have received a live vaccine in the last 4 weeks (i.e., MMR, chickenpox or yellow fever). This service is not available on Thursdays and Wednesday evenings.

*Available at the Vancouver location only.

Email Consult

Travel assessments by email are available for travelers who live outside the Lower Mainland and cannot access the Travel Clinic – Vancouver Coastal Health. You will receive the assessment via email and prescriptions via fax. Recommended vaccines can be administered at a clinic in your area.
