    2. Prepare and submit your application: When you find a job posting that fits your skills and interests and you meet the minimum qualifications, click “Apply” to start your application. 

      Tip: Use our Tips for preparing your resume and cover letter to help you get your resume ready before you apply.
    3. Interview, if successful. If you’re shortlisted for an interview, you’ll receive a phone call or email invitation. Timelines between applying and hearing from us can vary, so please check your email inbox and junk mail folder to ensure you don’t miss any updates. You may also be invited for skill-testing if applicable.

    4. Job offer,  if successful. If you are a successful candidate for a role at Vancouver Coastal Health, the Hiring Manager will send you a job offer. You will receive a notification through the VCH Careers Portal - login to review and sign your offer letter.

    2. Log in: Before you apply to your desired job, log into the VCH Employee CareerHub. Need help? Get login instructions.
    3. Make sure your profile is up to date: After you login to CareerHub, you will be able to update your profile. Your information will be saved for any future jobs you apply to. Instructions on how to update your profile.
    4. Apply: Once you have updated your profile and selected a job posting, you can apply for the job directly in CareerHub. Instructions on how to apply for jobs.

  • Health sciences placement

    Health Sciences Placement involves nursing, allied health, rehabilitation sciences, social work, and other non-medical clinical disciplines for post-secondary students whose practicum is required for graduation and who are insured by their school for liability and personal injury.

  • Medical student placement

    Medical student placements are coordinated through the UBC Faculty of Medicine as VCH is unable to accept direct requests.

    For shadowing or observational experiences involving physicians, please consult the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia (CPSBC).

  • Job shadow/career observation

    At Vancouver Coastal Health, we do not offer shadowing or practicum placements independently, including observation experiences required for school programs. Shadowing opportunities are available only to qualified health-care professionals seeking professional development or employment with VCH.

    Participants must provide proof of up-to-date immunizations, a current criminal record check, and may be required to show evidence of adequate insurance. Completion of the VCH Privacy and Confidentiality Undertaking for Student Placement is also mandatory.

  • Independent supervised practice expertise

    If you need a practicum placement with Vancouver Coastal Health to renew your Nursing license and are not currently enrolled in a post-secondary institution, please contact us at Placements@vch.ca. Please note that all standard prerequisites must be completed in accordance with our guidelines before beginning a placement.

  • Co-op student placement

    VCH Student Practice processes requests for unpaid health sciences-related student placements arranged through HSPnet. If you’re seeking a paid co-op placement reimbursed by either the health authority or your institution, please contact your co-op coordinator for guidance on how to apply.

  • Paid work opportunities for students

    VCH Student Practice only processes requests for unpaid health sciences-related student placements arranged through HSPnet.

When you apply, you will be asked a screening question about your qualifications. Please include in your response that you have included a cover letter for your application in your profile’s additional documents. 

Yes – while filling in your application, you can click “Finish Later” to save your application prior to submitting it. Once ready to return to completing your application, sign into your VCH Careers online profile. 

In your dashboard, under the “Submitted Applications” section, you will see the list of jobs you have applied for. Under the “Actions” column, you'll see a Continue Application button next to all jobs in which you have an incomplete application. Click “Continue Application” to continue completing your application. 

To update your profile, including your contact information, resume and cover letters, and/or upload additional documents please follow these instructions:

Visit this careers website www.vch.ca/careers and navigate to the login button for returning candidates need to enter your Login and Password. 

Click the “Update profile” to interactively create/edit your profile, including:

  • Replace your resume (Max Size 5MB) **please note the size limitation.
  • Replace your primary Cover Letter
  • Upload or delete additional documents
  • Change your login information (including password)
  • Enter the Additional Information, Contact Information and complete the required Candidate Questions – please ensure you answer each question before submitting.
  • Change or update contact information
  • Update your most recent job title/employer
  • Update information about legal entitlement to work in Canada (ie. change in work permit status, etc)

Once all updates are complete, click the blue “Update Profile” button at the bottom of the page. Once successfully updated, you will receive a confirmation notification on the next page. 

All job postings must be applied for using the VCH Careers system online, and in-person paper applications are not accepted at this time. However, should you require accessibility accommodations to submit your application, please contact recruitment.inquiries@vch.ca 

We offer both unionized and non-unionized positions, which means benefits may vary based on the job and position type (Temporary, Casual, or Permanent). 

Unionized roles follow the benefits outlined in their respective Collective Agreements, while non-unionized positions have benefits specific to their job classification. 

If you are contacted by an Advisor and have questions regarding benefits, please let us know and we will be happy to share more details.

While there are some roles that may be eligible for workplace flexibility arrangements (which may include remote or hybrid work arrangements), there are some roles and work units that cannot achieve required deliverables and/or meet desired outcomes with workplace flexibility. Workplace flexibility is subject to operational approval by the Manager of the role.
