Invasive Group A Streptococcal Disease (IGAS)
Severe IGAS is a rapidly progressive disease.
Provide chemoprophylaxis to close contacts as soon as possible, preferably within 24 hours of case identification. However, it is still recommended up to 7 days after the last contact with a severe invasive case—cases with lab confirmation of GAS from a non-sterile site assessed for invasiveness and signs of clinical severity. It is not reportable if found to be non-invasive and clinically stable, and no further action is required.
