Sexual health
Vancouver Coastal Health operates comprehensive sexual health services with programming for youth, 2SLGBTQIA+, people living with and at risk for HIV and Hepatitis C, people who use drugs and people with lived experience of sex work.
Services
Our sexual health program includes the following key components:
- Free emergency contraception (Plan B)
- HIV and STI (sexually transmitted infections) testing and free treatment
- Pregnancy testing and next steps counselling
- Non-urgent sexual assault support & follow-up
- Sexual health related immunizations
- Free condoms
- Harm reduction supplies
Some clinics may offer the following services, please check clinics' specific sites for details
- IUD (hormonal/copper) and Implant consultation and insertion (requires appointment)
- Medical abortion
- Contraception and prescription referral are available
- PrEP for HIV prevention
Expanding our sexual health program
Vancouver Coastal Health is actively working to expand our sexual health program to improve access, reduce sexually transmitted infections and improve sexual health wellbeing across our region.
- “Express” self-serve STI testing (currently available at HIM)
- Pre-exposure prophylaxis for HIV prevention (PrEP)
- Contraception prescribing for non-insured clients with barriers to access
- IUD (hormonal/copper) insertions for clients without primary care
MSP Eligibility Coverage for Sexual Health Services
Vancouver Coastal Health provides confidential sexual health services to people of all ages. Our services include testing, treatment, immunization, and counselling. Learn about the services that require MSP coverage and the services that are free to receive for everyone.
