Meet the BLUSH Youth Educators

Youth Educators group photo

Our Youth Educators are only a few years older (between 17 and 24) than the students they work with in-classroom. This dynamic allows for true learning exchanges because our Youth Educators know the topics students care about.

BLUSH Youth Educator

Gale (they/them)

I volunteer at BLUSH because I believe that sexual health education is crucial for youth to feel empowered in their identity, experiences, and relationships. My goal is to deliver workshops that affirm the experiences of all youth, including those from marginalized communities, such as LGBTQ+, neurodivergent, and disabled youth.

BLUSH Youth Educator

Rekha (she/her)

I decided to volunteer at BLUSH so I can help foster open communication about sex and relationships. I think relationships are extremely important, especially when it comes to growing and learning more about yourself. It is important to me that we decrease the taboo and stigma linked to sexual health and help better inform the youth with the education they need to stay happy and safe.

BLUSH Youth Educator

Gilbert (he/him)

I volunteer at BLUSH because I think sex is something that should be celebrated! I believe sex can be an way to explore one's identity, values, and body, so I became a sexual health educator to empower youth with the knowledge and skills to make informed choices that feel right to them.

BLUSH Youth Educator

Roman (they/them)

The best part of participating in BLUSH is the opportunities I have to both further my own knowledge and engage in candid conversations with youth. Sexual Health extends beyond the physical aspects that curriculums have traditionally focused on. The method of which we choose to model Sexual Health (ie. acceptance vs shame) and how we understand ourselves is an integral factor in our development and decision making. Neglecting the spiritual, emotional, and mental qualities of sexual health, exclusively advocating for abstinence, and teaching only through morality and fear has left generations with fragmented understandings of productive interactions with self and others. Working with BLUSH allows me to cross paths with amazing people and explore different methods of engagement.

BLUSH Youth Educator

Bella (she/her)

Hi everyone, my name is Bella (she/hers). I didn’t have conversations about sexual health and empowerment when I was growing up, so finding and getting involved with BLUSH was a perfect opportunity to change that for myself. Now, I get to work with incredible people and promote healthy conversations about sex and consent.

BLUSH Youth Educator

Amane (she/her)

I became a sexual health educator at BLUSH because I believe everyone, including people who decide not to have sex, should have access to accurate and accepting sexual health education. I want to be a part of advocating sexual rights for everyone, starting by providing sexual health education to high schoolers through BLUSH. I hope our work at BLUSH will positively impact the youths we interact with and make the future generation more sex-positive!

BLUSH Youth Educator

Angelina (she/her)

Hello! My name is Angelina and my pronouns and she/her. I decided to volunteer with BLUSH because I want to give youth the information and tools necessary to make responsible choices in regard to their relationships, well-being and health. I enjoy enabling conversations about healthy relationships, body autonomy and media literacy because I think these are overlooked topics in most school.

BLUSH Youth Educator

Simrin (she/her)

I have always had a passion for education and working with youth. I've really enjoyed the opportunity to create safe environments for teens to discuss topics relating to sexual health. I think it is crucial that young people have accurate and unbiased information presented to them. Thus allowing them to make more well informed decisions based on their individual values. As well, I have gained plenty of invaluable knowledge and grown so much through my experience with BLUSH.

BLUSH Youth Educator

Lian (she/her)

I work with BLUSH because it offers huge learning opportunities for both facilitators and students in workshops. I really believe in the power of this work to empower youth & facilitators and build more connected, safe and vibrant communities.

BLUSH Youth Educator

Denise (she/her)

I volunteer with BLUSH because when I was in high school, learning sexual health taught me so much about myself, both physically and emotionally. It had such a profound impact on me and my future, so I just want to help continue that for others!

BLUSH Youth Educator

Taylor (they/them)

I volunteer with BLUSH to inspire students. I am always learning as a sex educator, and I'm eager to share what I've learned to help youth to grow to understand themselves.

BLUSH Youth Educator

Naomi (she/her)

I work with BLUSH because I grew up in an extremely religious and conservative household where none of these things were ever brought up or discussed. I ended up seeking out the information, in secret of course, myself. Working with BLUSH allows me to change that for other youth I know are in a similar situation.

BLUSH Youth Educator

Theo (they/them)

I work with BLUSH because I believe that all youth deserve inclusive, non-judgmental, and holistic sexual education.

BLUSH Youth Educator

Rye Orange (he/they)

For as long as I can remember, I’ve wanted to talk about sex ed and have people listen. Volunteering with BLUSH let’s me have open discussions with youth about sex and sexual health through an anti-oppressive, consent based lens which is super important to me. I look forward to working with BLUSH for a long time.

BLUSH Youth Educator

Amy (she/her)

I chose to volunteer with BLUSH because Sex Ed was a great experience for me. I learnt so much through my workshops in school and I’ve heard too many stories of friends being told misinformation or nothing at all through their own schooling. I hope to avoid that for anyone who still has the opportunity for this learning. I believe every one has the right to knowledge. That means being equipped with knowledge about our body’s and sexuality. I want every one to be able to explore themselves and others safely and knowingly. No body should ever be left in the dark about how to explore freely and openly.

BLUSH Youth Educator

Erin (they/she)

I joined BLUSH to hopefully dispel a lot of the myths around sex education and to be an openly queer person talking about queer relationships! I never got that when I was in high school, and it feels nice to be the representation I needed back then.

BLUSH Youth Educator

Fiona (she/her)

I joined blush to help tackle any misconceptions or fears youth have surrounding safe sex. At their age, I was terrified of anything sex related so I would love to be someone who can create a safe space for folks of any background to learn about safe and healthy relationships.

BLUSH Youth Educator

Sam (she/her)

I think it is extremely important to provide information and create spaces that are relevant and safe for all youth. Working with BLUSH gives me the opportunity to make sex education more accessible and less intimidating, by delivering inclusive and sex-positive workshops and educational materials.

BLUSH Youth Educator

Helena (they/them)

I have always wanted to get involved with writing and teaching sex ed! As someone who only received a brief, fear-based cis-heteronormative sexual education in my adolescence, I want to ensure that the future is properly informed on what healthy sexual relationships can look like for everyone. Everyone deserves healthy and fulfilling relationships and sexual experiences!

BLUSH Youth Educator

Kira (she/her)

I love talking about sex! I hope to bring knowledge, kindness, and enthusiasm to the the sexual health conversation so that everyone can make decisions for themselves that make them feel all kinds of good!

BLUSH Youth Educator

Lauren (she/her)

I volunteer at BLUSH because healthy sexual relationships start with comprehensive and inclusive sexual health education! BLUSH allows us to start breaking down the stigma around sex and hopefully lets young people feel more comfortable and confident making choices about their sexual health and relationships!

BLUSH Youth Educator

Soph (she/they)

I facilitate with BLUSH because I'm super passionate about sexual well-being! We often don't get taught much about sexuality due to stigmatization. I believe that everyone deserves to be well-informed about sex, sexuality, and healthy relationships so that they can be empowered to make their own decisions and have fun!

BLUSH Youth Educator

Jenn H (she/her)

I facilitate with BLUSH because I love engaging with others, building community, and supporting youth people in having conversations that they typically may not have in the classroom :)

BLUSH Youth Educator

Komal (she/her)

I started facilitating workshops with BLUSH because I felt that when I was growing up there was much to be desired when it came to learning about sexual health both in school and at home and I wanted to be a part of that conversation when it came to the next generation. Another major reason I wanted to facilitate workshops with BLUSH is that I wanted to help bring more diversity to the classroom, so the students can look to our team and be able to find someone they can relate to.

BLUSH Youth Educator

Jenny C (she/her)

Hello! My name is Jenny and I am one of many amazing Blush facilitators. I facciliate with Blush because I truly believe that sex education is a right everyone deserves, and I want to do my part to ensure youth have all the correct and necessary information they need to fully make use of their bodily autonomy and live the life they want for themselves."

BLUSH Youth Educator

Bryn (she/her)

I’m Bryn, I’m 20, and I’ve been working with BLUSH since February of 2022. As someone who found high school sex education exclusive and very heteronormative, I am glad resources like BLUSH exist that make space for all bodies and sexualities. I am proud to facilitate and write with BLUSH and I hope to keep doing it as long as they’ll have me.

BLUSH Youth Educator

Jenny H

Hi, my name is Jenny H. I'm here because I want to provide youth with a healthy, nuanced sex-ed that I never experienced when I was younger. I hope to be of help to those who are feeling lost along the treacherous pathway to finding and being comfortable with oneself!
