Care is at the heart of VCH
Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is committed to uplifting its people – fostering career growth, celebrating their many contributions, and supporting their well-being. These are some of the reasons why VCH has been named by Mediacorp Canada as one of Canada’s Top 100 Employers for 2026.
Mediacorp cited commitment to career development though training programs and Career Pathways, appreciation of staff and medical staff through long service recognition, internal awards and peer-to-peer recognition, as well as support for well-being with resources like employee discounts and financial wellness sessions.
VCH works to empower staff and medical staff to grow their career pathway. Mohineesh Munraj, a Health Career Access Program (HCAP) graduate, says participating in the program helped him take the next step in his career, while making a meaningful difference in the lives of his clients.
“HCAP has transformed my aspirations into reality and ignited hope for others who share my dreams," says Mohineesh. “The mentorship I’ve received has been invaluable.”
When it comes to recognition, VCH’s internal awards program brings out the best. This year, a record 13,658 staff, medical staff and volunteers were nominated for an internal award – approximately 46 per cent of the VCH workforce.
“I am grateful to be part of a team and organization that values collaboration, compassion and excellence in care. This nomination is truly a reflection of the collective efforts of the amazing colleagues I work alongside every day,” says Lorraine Fernandez, Environmental Services Supervisor, who was nominated for excellence in leadership.
“The ceremony left me feeling proud to be part of the group of amazing people and teams who work at VCH,” said Dana Clifford, Manager, Sheway and recipient of the Lifetime Achievement award after the awards event. “[Hearing] their accomplishments, doing so much extra for the clients to improve care, was amazing.”
