Outpatient treatment and supportive care for patients with hematologic diseases who are referred to the Leukemia/BMT Program of BC.

What to expect

The BC Leukemia Bone Marrow Transplant Program includes services such as the Hematology Apheresis Unit (HAU) and Outpatient Daycare Unit. 

 

Hematology Apheresis Unit

The Hematology Apheresis Unit (HAU) assesses patients and donors who will undergo peripheral blood stem cell collection. The actual collection also takes place in the HAU. 

Other services that the HAU provides include:

  • Chemotherapy administration
  • Blood product transfusion
  • Phlebotomy

Outpatient Daycare

The program provides outpatient treatment and supportive care for patients with hematologic diseases who are referred to the Leukemia/BMT Program of BC.

The Outpatient Daycare Unit (Formerly referred to as CP6 Daycare) provides services such as:

  • Follow-up care for recently discharged patients
  • Patient and family teaching and counselling
  • Antibiotics and blood product transfusion
  • Chemotherapy
