The Complex Seating and Mobility Service supports clinicians in the public health system in their efforts to address their clients' complex seating and mobility issues. Seating and mobility issues may include pressure injuries, significant postural deformity, pain and spasticity or exploration of alternate drive controls.

What to expect

Consultation is provided to a client's primary therapist – usually an Occupational Therapist.

Depending on the region, in-person and virtual consults are offered. The consultation typically includes a joint initial assessment to determine the complexity of the client's needs and formulate a seating and mobility intervention plan to optimize postural supports and functional performance.

The intervention plan may include the following:

  • Equipment trials and recommendations
  • Custom seating
  • Mobility training
  • Client/caregiver education.
