The Youth Pregnancy & Parenting Program (YPPP) provides support and resources to pregnant Vancouver youth (24 and under) and their babies.

What to expect

The Youth Pregnancy and Parenting Program services include: 

  • nutrition counselling with a Dietitian during pregnancy;
  • one-to-one support with housing, finances and other social challenges with a Support Worker;
  • weekly prenatal education group with a Public Health Nurse and Youth Support Worker;
  • youth-focused parent-infant drop-in groups until the baby is 18 months old;
  • free hot lunches provided at groups;
  • food skills cooking classes and demonstrations;
  • counseling with a Youth Counselor; and
  • clothing and food donations.

Low-income clients may also receive: 

  • grocery gift cards,
  • free dental hygiene visits,
  • transit tickets,
  • free prenatal vitamins, and
  • vitamin D drops for babies.

Youth with multiple barriers may apply to access the YPPP maternity clinic, which offers:

  • A youth-friendly medical team including Nurse Practitioners, Nurses, Physicians and others, that follow youth and their baby; and
  • Family doctors that deliver at BC Women’s Hospital.
