How to access mental health and substance use support in Richmond
Contact the Richmond Mental Health and Substance Use Central Intake team for help finding non-life-threatening mental health or substance use support if you live or stay in Richmond.

Hours of operation are Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Drop in at Richmond Place - 8100 Granville, Unit 600
Hours of operation for intake:
- Adults: Monday to Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., or 1:00 to 3:30 p.m.
- Children and youth: Tuesdays 2 to 4 p.m.
Intake services are available in English, Cantonese and Mandarin. Free interpreting services are also available in other languages.
Our team can connect you to the right services or resources when you connect with us. Services support children, youth, adults, and older adults. Some services will require a referral from a physician, midwife or nurse practitioner. Please speak to our intake team for more details.

Provides comprehensive assessment, support and Opioid Agonist Treatment to Richmond residents and people living in surrounding areas who are using opioids.

Cognitive Assessment and Rehabilitation for Substance Use Program (CARSU) at Richmond Place
Referral from a health-care provider is also accepted. This service provides assessment and treatment services for individuals of all ages who are experiencing cognitive challenges related to substance use including alcohol. Contact us to learn if this service is right for you.

Harm Reduction Supplies & Needle Distribution Site at Richmond Hospital ER
Harm reduction supplies including clean needles, sterile water, alcohol swabs, pipes and health information to support safer substance use practices. We also provide safer sex supplies including condoms.

Richmond Family Access Support Team (RFAST)
RFAST is an intensive outreach team for families where at least one member of the family is facing severe mental illness and/or substance use issues.

Richmond Substance Use Outreach Team
This program offers client-centered, recovery-oriented service for clients who have a primary complex substance use diagnosis causing functional impairments in daily life. Services may include case management, counselling, psychiatry, and general medicine.

Richmond Acute Home Base Treatment (AHBT)
This service provides short-term care in the home as an alternative to hospital for adults aged 17 or older who have mental health and/or substance use concerns and are experiencing a worsening of their symptoms. A referral from a health-care provider is required.

Early Psychosis Intervention (EPI) Richmond
Referral from a health-care provider is also accepted. This service provides assessment and treatment for individuals aged 13 to 30 who recently developed psychosis. Contact us to learn if this service is right for you.

Geriatric Assessment Program (GAP)
This service is a comprehensive geriatric consultation program offering assessment and treatment services for older adults aged 70 or older. This service specializes in care for individuals with complex physical, cognitive, and chronic disease management challenges. A referral from a health-care provider is required.

Psychiatric Inpatient Services at Richmond Hospital
This is a mental health inpatient service also known as 2 West at Richmond Hospital. This service provides assessment and treatment to adults who require acute 24-hour management in a hospital setting.

Rapid Access Consult Clinic (RACC) at Community Health Access Centre
This service offers a one-time psychiatrist consultation for diagnostic clarification and medication review for adults aged 19 or older. A referral from a health-care provider is required.

Richmond Assertive Community Team (ACT) at Community Health Access Centre
This service is a client-centred, recovery-oriented mental health service delivery model for adults aged 19 or older who have serious mental conditions and complex substance use disorders, have severe functional impairments, and would benefit from comprehensive, wrap-around care. A referral from a health-care provider is required.

Richmond Bridge House
This service is a short-stay crisis intervention facility in the community for individuals aged 19 or older who are experiencing a mental health crisis but do not require an acute psychiatric hospitalization. Clients are cared for 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and can be admitted for a maximum of 14 days. A referral from a health-care provider is required.

Richmond Eating Disorders Program
This is a community-based assessment and treatment service for youth, adults and families with eating disorders. Treatment may include individual, group and/or family counselling, medical monitoring and nutritional support. A referral from a health-care provider is required.

Richmond Mental Health Consumer and Friends Society (RCFC)
Referral from a health-care provider is accepted. This service is a self-governing peer-run mental health organization for adults aged 19 or older who are living with mental health concerns. Contact us to learn if this service is right for you.

Richmond Mental Health Team at the Community Health Access Center
This service provides case management, psychiatry and rehabilitation services for adults aged 19 or older who have ongoing mental health and substance use concerns that affect their functioning & require a broad range of coordinated services. A referral from a health-care provider is required.

Richmond Older Adult Mental Health Team at the Community Health Access Center
This service provides assessment and treatment for older adults aged 65 or older who have serious mental health concerns complicated by complex medical issues or dementia with behavioural and psychological symptoms. This is also for adults under 65 who have early-onset dementia. A referral from a health-care provider is required.

Offers short-term follow-up in the areas of general and older adult psychiatry.

Psychiatric Emergency Unit at Richmond Hospital
This service provides a brief stay for the assessment, stabilization and treatment of people who are experiencing a psychiatric/mental health crisis.

Urgent response for children and youth who are at moderate to high risk of suicide. This service includes the Team Response to Adolescent & Children in Crisis (TRACC)

Early Childhood Mental Health Services at Richmond Place – 8100 Granville Avenue
Assessment and treatment for behavioural/emotional problems in infants and children aged 0 to 6. Services are made up of a multidisciplinary team composed of psychiatrists and allied health professionals, including psychologists, social workers, and counsellors.
